1 Now even the first covenant had aregulations for divine worship and bthe earthly sanctuary. 2For ca

naltar of incense and othe ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was pa golden jar holding the manna, qAaron’s staff which budded, and rthe tablets of the covenant;
5and above it were the scherubim of glory tovershadowing the

6 Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests vare continually entering the

9which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly aiboth gifts and sacrifices are offered which ajcannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10since they relate only to akfood, aldrink, and various amwashings, anregulations for the

body imposed until apa time of reformation.

11 But when Christ appeared as a aqhigh priest of the argood things

12and not through axthe blood of goats and calves, but aythrough His own blood, He azentered the holy place baonce for all time,

13For if bdthe blood of goats and bulls, and bethe
I.e., ashes mixed in water
ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the

cleansing of the flesh,
14how much more will bhthe blood of Christ, who through
Or His eternal spirit

bjthe eternal Spirit bkoffered Himself without blemish to God, blcleanse your conscience from bmdead works to serve bnthe living God?

15 For this reason boHe is the bpmediator of a bqnew covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the violations that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been brcalled may bsreceive the promise of btthe eternal inheritance. 16For where there is a

22And cgalmost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and chwithout the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

23 Therefore it was necessary for the cicopies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these things, but cjthe heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ ckdid not enter a holy place made by hands, a mere copy of clthe true one, but into cmheaven itself, now cnto appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as cothe high priest enters cpthe Holy Place cqyear by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since crthe foundation of the world; but now csonce at ctthe consummation of the ages He has been curevealed to put away sin
